She currently serves as the board chair of both Dancewave and the Council for Unity. She is a member of the board of New York Women in Communications Foundation, where she co-chairs the Scholarship Committee and is an active participant in their mentoring program. Thomas also sits on the advisory boards of The Grace Institute and Services for the Underserved.

Saundra plans to run a campaign based on providing leadership and initiative. She feels leaders must be outspoken and passionate about creating a better tomorrow. “Working together with and for those I serve is the only way to make a sustained difference.”  A life-long mentor, her greatest passion is in strengthening young people as they strive for and achieve success.  She is sought after for advice from former interns, mentees and students.  She finds special pleasure in connecting them with job and educational opportunities.

Saundra’s work has been acknowledged with awards including: The Council for Unity as a Champion for Children, Medgar Evers College for her work with WABC-TV on public service awareness in local communities and most recently honored as a McDonald’s Media Legend at its annual Black History Month celebration.
