Race Overview

The race to succeed Gale Brewer in the New York City Council features two district leaders, two former community board presidents, an education advocate, a youthful businessman, and Green Party leader. The six Democratic candidates have had little difficulty fundraising and most have been actively campaigning since early 2012.

One of the most competitive races of the election cycle is what you would expect from the most politically active district in the city: a deep pool of highly qualified candidates in a race that is likely to be too-close-to-call through primary day. Take a close look at each of the candidates and see what you think.
